The boat rocked and pulled at the lines all night but Mike and I both slept well. I only felt the tug on the lines when I occasionally woke up. Another beautiful, sunny day but it.,.was.... windy....! Betsie Lake and was rough. Lake Michigan even more so. Mike finished connecting the fuel senders to the bridge dashboard while I cleaned the windows on the bridge. The dock master came by with a package for us.??? We didn't have mail forwarded here so what could this be? Sandy had sent us some calling cards and Del had printed off some pictures from their visit. The cards are great! In color, picture of our boat, more 'options' then we had selected on the others. Thanks again good friends!
That evening we walked out to the beach. Surfers in Lake Michigan?! Waves were crashing over the pier heads and many people were taking advantage of it. We saw 7 kite boarders fly up the coast on the waves and wind. Another kite boarder kept a tight rein on his kite and was able to stay circling in the same area. That looked tougher. There were many paddle boarders too. People were running toward the beach with their boards like a scene from an old beach movie, (except they had on wet suits!).
Kite surfers are only specks on the horizon. |
Caution: Camera angle does not accurately convey wave action!
A surprise awaited us that when we returned to the boat. Another 'calling card' was left. Tim Kelly, a friend from Bay City, knew a local Frankforter and she came by to visit. Sorry to have missed you Barb. How did you know Mike was out of Killian's? Thanks for your thoughtfulness.
